GPC Missions Coorindator, Kelli Albright, heard through a prayer request in March, about a fire that had destroyed the family home of 6 children. Having taught Sierra and Cheyenne, the youngest 2 children, in Sunday School class, Kelli was able to obtain the contact information for their mother Heather Clayton. She learned from Heather that they had received some help from the Red Cross, but there were still needs that needed to be met.

Along with Kelli’s church family, GPC Missions was able to provide this family with Wal-Mart gift cards totaling $350 as well as essential clothing needs for the children. Ashley Johnson, GPC Missions Corporate Sponsor Director, was also able to provide Heather with a coat and some blankets from the clothing drive she held back in December.

Below is a note of thanks from Heather:

“Thank you so much Kelli and GPC missions for helping us out after the house fire. The girls were so happy to be able to go shopping for some clothes.”

GPC Missions is working in Lake City, Florida to reach out to a group of orphaned children in Kampala, Uganda. These children are being cared for by a ministry there known as “The Heart of the Father Life Center”, operated by Moses Sedricks in Kampala. Most of the children there are suffering from the devastation of HIV-AIDS which have taken their parents and left them orphaned and homeless. Moses works with as many as 200 children that are suffering on the streets of Kampala, attempting to provide food, clothing, education and housing.

Through the efforts of Missions Coordinator Sue Raper, GPC Missions is working to reach out and bring awareness to the hardships these children face daily. Sue has taken up the torch and is working on providing teaching materials, activities and songs that Moses and his staff can help with these children. Sue has called her campaign “Crayons for Children” as a means of starting to build an awareness and beginning of a support program for “The Heart of the Father Life Center.” She is putting together a biblically based series of lessons, songs and activities that can be easily reproduced and distributed to the children. Most of the lessons are activity based and are of the coloring book format with songs and music to augment the teaching.

Sue’s efforts are just the beginning of the long-term support effort that GPC Missions is looking to supply to Moses and The Heart of the Father Life Center. With the dedication of our Missions Coordinators, like Sue, GPC is striving to fulfill our mission; Giving Peace to Children. GPC Missions would like to applaud Sue for her dedication, drive and talent to implement her “Missions for Moses” and other unique and truly inspired missions as well, such as her “New Pair of Shoes” missions drive for the homeless children in Florida. Here’s to Sue and a job more than well done. She exemplifies the essence of all of us at GPC Missions and has become an inspiration to all of us.

On February 15, 2012, Zander Cahoo, the eldest son of Amanda Martin, had surgery on his right shoulder and arm to remove a cyst that was threatening to inhibit further growth of the right arm. Surgeons removed bone marrow from his hip and implanted it into the bone of his shoulder in hopes to promote continued growth of his right arm.

GPC Missions decided to help Amanda and her husband, Jacen, with some extra costs involved for them to meet this appointment. Due to Children’s Hospital being located over 100 miles away in Seattle with the appointment for surgery scheduled for 7 AM, GPC Missions provided the family a hotel room just three blocks from the hospital on the night before the surgery, as well as fuel for required travel. We also purchased gifts to comfort Zander during his recovery following the surgery.

Jacen’s brother is also sick, so Amanda and Jacen have taken his two daughters into their home to care for until he is well. Because of Jacen and Amanda’s relationship with Christ and the help provided to them by GPC Missions and another organization, The Upper Room Fellowship, these girls have begun asking about Jesus. We, along with The Upper Room, purchased Bibles for these girls.

Please continue to pray for the entire family, and especially for Zander, that this surgery has been successful and he will have normal growth of his arm continue without any reoccurrence of the cyst in the future. Please pray for them as they all work towards a closer relationship with Christ.

To God be the glory!

The Ogle family consists of a single mother on disability and a fixed income, 12-year old Lillie and 11-year old Dean. In December they found themselves in a difficult situation. The single mother of two woke up one morning to find that the man she had been living with had robbed them, taking her valuables, the children’s recent birthday presents as well as their Christmas gifts. GPC Missions Coordinator, Jeff Dunaway, made contact with Ms. Ogle and found out how we could help. We were able to help make Christmas for Lillie and Dean a little brighter.

As always, thank you so much for your continued support of GPC Missions as we work to bring peace to children throughout the world.

Mobile Area Director, Dave Williams, was contacted by a newly formed charitable organization called Serving Our Sisters, Inc. (SOS). They had three families in need. In all of these families, the mothers and children have been abandoned by the fathers, having nearly all financial support taken from them. All of the mothers were afraid to pursue legal action out of fear of retribution by the husband.

Dave, and GPC Missions, partnered with SOS to help provide emotional support and financial support for meals. Each family was presented with a Walmart giftcard to help with a holiday meal as well as passes to Bellingrath Gardens for the families to view the Christmas lights and displays.

In addition, SOS provided ALL of the Christmas presents that the children asked for on a wish list.

Officially, this mission has been completed, however, Dave will continue to assist SOS with certain needs, such as clothing and food items to be collected in a future food drive. The gifts presented by GPC to these families helps to make this particular Christmas a happy one that the children will remember.

On November 16th we brought to you the story of Haley Manthe, a sweet baby girl born in July 2011. Haley, the youngest of 4 children, was diagnosed with a heart condition just hours after her birth. She has since been diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis and Turner’s Syndrome, a genetic disorder. We asked for your help in providing Haley’s family with basic needs such as medical supplies, diapers and wipes, and food for the whole family.

Because of your generous donations, we were able to provide the Manthe family with a gas card to help with their travels to doctor appointments and hospital stays in Kansas City, a gift card to Wal-Mart to help out with food and a gift card to Walgreens to help with medical supplies. We also were able to give them a couple of cases of diapers and wipes as well as a few pieces of warm winter clothing for Haley.

The family was blessed by having Haley come home on Christmas Eve. They were able to spend Christmas at home as a family after being in the hospital for the last month (not counting the hospital stays prior to that). They have an appointment back in KC in a couple weeks to discuss Haley’s next surgery, but for now the family is enjoying some much needed family time at home.

Please continue to keep precious Haley and her family in your prayers.

Thus far, she has been unable to purchase a much needed toddler bed and an additional crib for the new baby. Thanks to GPC Missions, this family received these essentials in a timely manner with the coldest months ahead and the arrival of another little one early next year.
